Whale-Watching

Witness the annual migration of Humpback Whales — July, August & September

The Humpback Migration

Every year between July and September, thousands of Humpback Whales make their epic journey along Australia's east coast — and Mission Beach sits right in the heart of their migration corridor.

These magnificent marine mammals travel from Antarctic feeding grounds to the warm tropical waters of the Great Barrier Reef to breed and give birth. Along the way, they pass through the waters surrounding Mission Beach, offering some of the most spectacular whale-watching opportunities in Australia.

Our Whale-Watching Tours are designed to give you front-row access to this natural phenomenon — with respectful viewing practices, expert commentary, and the chance to witness breaching, tail slapping, and playful calf behaviour.

Guided by Qualified Marine Scientists

Our team aren't just guides with a script — they're qualified marine scientists who understand humpback behaviour, migration biology and the ecology of the waters you're moving through. As whales surface, breach or engage with the vessel, they'll explain what's happening and why in real time. It's the difference between watching something spectacular and actually understanding it.
