Become a professional dive leader on the Great Barrier Reef — where your training ground is one of the world's most spectacular marine environments
The Divemaster rating is where recreational diving ends and professional diving begins. It's not just about being a good diver — it's about becoming a leader, mentor, and guardian of the underwater world.
The PADI Divemaster rating is your entry into the professional side of diving — it's the first step toward becoming an instructor and opens doors to work worldwide.
Leadership skills, dive theory at a professional level, how to assist instructors, supervise certified divers, conduct dive briefings, and manage dive activities safely and confidently.
Lead certified divers, assist with training courses, conduct Discover Scuba Diving programs, guide snorkelers, work on dive boats, and supervise dive activities under instructor oversight.
Passionate divers who want to turn their love of the ocean into a career, gain deeper knowledge, challenge themselves, or simply become the best diver they can be.
Because where and how you train matters. This is a small operation with big standards — and we're invested in your success.
Your classroom is one of the world's most biodiverse marine ecosystems. You'll develop skills in an environment that most divemasters only dream of working in.
You're not just a number. You'll train directly with the people who own and run this operation — experienced professionals who genuinely care about your development.
This isn't a factory course. You'll receive personalised guidance, honest feedback, and the kind of mentorship that shapes confident, capable professionals.
You'll assist with real courses, guide actual guests, and gain practical experience in a working dive operation — not just theory and skills in a pool.
Learn the sites, the species, the seasons, and the stories. You'll graduate with intimate knowledge of this reef system and the confidence to share it.
Train with an operation that walks the talk — small groups, no-touch policy, waste minimisation, and genuine respect for Sea Country and Traditional Custodians.
"We're not interested in churning out divemasters. We're interested in developing professionals who understand the reef, respect the ocean, and genuinely care about the people they're leading. If that's you, we'd love to work with you."

While we're finalising the exact structure and dates, here's what you can expect from a PADI Divemaster program with Mission Beach Dive.
A typical Divemaster program takes 4–8 weeks depending on your availability, prior experience, and how quickly you progress through the requirements. Some candidates complete it faster, others take longer — we work with your schedule.
